I have not yet seen any posts about this product so i think it's time to make one. So, this is a drum virtual instrument which emulate and re-create drum sound from a classic Metallica's 'Black Album' which needs no introduction. Couple of fun and spectacular facts are that drum kit used in this sampling session is EXACT SAME as Lars used in Black Album, the mighty Gretsch 80s double bass kit with five enormous toms of course with magnificent Zildjian cymbals. They recorder this product in EXACT SAME studio which Black Album drums are recorded(One on One Studio) and last, they hired Mike Tacci(Who was assistant engineer on the record) to help with sampling/recording. In my opinion, the drums sound really awesome. It has really good go-to presets that will give you couple of different mixing styles which definetly pop out in the mix.
It has nice amount of round-robins for each instrument which will prevent that machine gun effect in fast tom rolls etc. It has great variety of different microphone setups for each instrument that can be easily blended with each other and those midi patterns that come along with this product are pure gold, just spot on Lars drumming! I haven't really been able to test it in the mix since i have been experienced some issue with routing instruments out of the Kontakt player for my DAW so i can mix it way i like. But i think i will definetly put out some demos when i have time since now FAS released Metallica MkIIc+ model which i am really exited about also!

Metallica is an American metal band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, California, United States when drummer Lars Ulrich posted an advertisement in The Recycler. Metallica’s line-up originally consisted of Ulrich, rhythm guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, and lead guitarist Dave Mustaine. Mustaine was later fired due to problems with alcoholism and drug addiction - he went on to form the band Megadeth. Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammett took his place. Metallica has been through several bassists, including Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton (who died in a bus crash while the band was on tour), and Jason Newsted.
